This is the story of my S13 Saved from scrap with a BMW V8 Heart!
I had gotten bored of my E30 Convertible even with a lot of work done it wasn't for me, i found this coupe FS ad and negotiated a trade, the buyer came with a trailer and dropped it off and picked up the E30. Unfortunately it actually needed a lot more work than they had made out but it was already here and i wanted another s13, but it wasn't going to be easy.
Say good bye E30
Say hello to a lot of work.. Essentially all the previous body work had to be removed and redone.
I started at the front by patching and repairing the front strut towers, which eventually led to completely replacing the driver side frame and rebuilding the door hinge/ a-piller area.
The rocker panels and quarter repair were so bad i completely removed them and tubed the rear and welded in replacement rockers. i cut out what remained of the trunk and created a tube frame and fuel cell mount, Then i mounted the widebody from my other s13 so i could use the stock quarters that were barely attached to this car when i got it to repair my other car.
The body was progressing nicely, but what engine was i going to use? at this point a stock dual cam ka was no longer acceptable and i was still missing alot of it. Lying around the shop was a customers old M62 from an E38 that needed a complete timing service and all gaskets, after a few measurements i decided it would be possible without too much work and so it was to be.
Soon it was in and running, by far the hardest thing to do was get the clutch/flywheel combo happy and creating a front crank sensor mount. A true dual exhaust was fabricated and Then the dreaded paint prep, overall quite happy, still debating painting it a gloss color.
I always enjoy driving this car, but because i ended up finding my old Silvia partway through this build my attention is focused there now. so if you think this car is for you it's currently forsale!
